Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) Secretary General is on his way out. Persistent rumors suggest Muligande will soon be replaced by Patrick Mazimpaka as RPF Secretary General. Sources have told AfroAmerica Network that Rwandan President General Paul Kagame has serious differences with Muligande. These sources have refused to indicate the nature of the conflict opposing the two politicians.
So far both men have collaborated on many issues such as: the firing of Joseph Sebarenzi Kabuye, former Speaker of the National Transitional Assembly, the firing of Pierre Celestin Rwigema, former Prime Minister, the demotion and promotion of Hutu politicians, the massacre of Hutu particularly in Gisenyi and Ruhengeri, the massacre of abagogwe in Gisenyi, and the invasion of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The same sources said Tutsi returnees from Uganda also known in Kigali as "abagande" or "Ugandans" were very angry with Muligande who has been unable to resolve conflicts within the RPF. These conflict came into the open when, at the end of last year, a group of RPF members who live in the United States denounced the criminal behaviors and the ideology of the RPF and quit the organization.
Abagande also believe that Muligande should have prevented Rwigema and Sebarenzi from fleeing to the United States.
Muligande grew up in Burundi and spent several years in the United States. He holds a green card, US Permanent Resident status, and may enter the United States any time.
