PRESS RELEASE N° 01/SE/CD/FDLR/DECEMBER/2007 OF THE FDLR

The FDLR urge the United States of America (USA) not to continue to fan the flames of war in the African Great Lakes Region and to halt immediately their support for Laurent Nkundabatware.

The Democratic Liberation Forces of Rwanda (FDLR) have reliable information that the United States of America support and protect renegade General Laurent Nkundabatware by providing him with arms, ammunition, logistics, intelligence, close security and a diplomatic support through international organisations.

Indeed, American soldiers belonging to the Marines corps lead operations of Laurent Nkundabatware, permanently ensure his security and provide him with information about the positions and the strength of the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC) and MONUC troops. Those American Marines are stationed in Butotori military camp in Gisenyi (Rwanda) on Lake Kivu, where they have long established their military base for their missions in the African Great Lakes Region, where they train death squads of Kagame.

In addition, the recent establishment of an American representation in Goma aims only at covering up the operations of those Marines in the region by passing for humanitarian caring.

In the interest of world peace and security of all peoples in the African Great Lakes Region, the FDLR call upon the United States to stop fanning the flames of war in the African Great Lakes region and instead to actively and positively engage in the search for a definitive solution to the crisis in that region by peaceful means and through dialogue between the various protagonists.

The FDLR remain attached to the voice of peace to solve the political problem of Rwanda and reaffirm that the process of Rome remains a reliable basis for any search for a negotiated solution towards a lasting peace and harmonious development of the Great Lakes Region of Africa.
